A certain degree of tribalism comes with being human. As you allude to, anti-tribalist attempts to transcend tribalism only create new, less rooted (and more condescending) tribes.
Without a specific kind of mental disease, to be precise. Usually, either autistic spectrum, ADHD, or both are meant; in this case, I meant the former.
Will read the entire piece later, but like to add my two cents:
1. People aren’t becoming more tribal - they are re-tribalising.
2. The rise of nationalism and populism isn’t a sign of strength - it’s an indication of their weakness. This has to be understood through the lens of history and not immediate observations.
